What happens when we get a 999 call?
This is what happens when you call

Please remember, you should only call 999 in an emergency!!
First, the caller dials 999. The operator asks which service you require. The call is then passed to the nearest fire control room...
Then, a fire control operator will ask you for some details and the address of the fire. Control will then mobilise the nearest fire engine...
At the fire station, our sounders will go off and we will receive a printout telling us all the details of the Fire... (click on the bell to hear the sounders)
We then get dressed in our firekit, climb on the fire engine and we are on our way to help.
